This classically styled chronograph is by far one of the nicest chronograph watches I've seen for this price point. The Invicta Speedway Chronograph model 9211 offers itself up to be a bold accessory to any business or casual attire. When this watch first arrived, in the typical bright yellow Invicta box, I was definitely excited to take this thing out and start playing with it. I don't usually mention packaging on this blog but this watch was shipped in a very nice, well constructed box, compared to other (may I mention more expensive) watches have come in less quality packaging. Anyways, back to the chronograph. One of the most attractive features of this watch is its white dial background with black-outlined sub dials, bright Tritnite hands and small minute indexes. For those of you who don't know, Tritnite is a luminous material with extended glowing properties which was exclusively developed by Invicta in Switzerland to be added to their timepiece hands and markers. According to Invicta, when exposed to regular daylight, Tritnite will glow for approximately 20 hours. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a knockoff but it definitely looks a lot like a Tag Heuer Aquaracer or Rolex Submariner, just with a fraction of the price tag . Surprisingly, this watch gets more compliments than some of my more expensive chronograph watches.

The three stylish chronograph sub dials on this watch measure time within intervals of 1/60 of a second and are capable of up to 30 minutes of elapsed time. Like other chronograph watches it possesses the start, stop, and reset functions. The round silver stainless steel watch case is about 1.7 inches with very nicely engraved units per hour markings on the bezel. This chronograph is a nicely designed, anti-reflective mineral crystal which appears to be of higher quality than some other watches. There is date function at the 4 o'clock position which is also another nice added touch. It is, of course, water resistant up to 660 feet. Now, I know it has Japanese guts, but so does Citizen, Seiko and a lot of other well respected chronograph manufacturers. Trust me, with its design and functionality, your friends and family will think you spent over $500 dollars on this watch. If you are looking for a nice, sturdy, chronograph with the style to match up, head to head, with some of the more expensive chronograph watches out there, this Invicta is the watch for you.

The Distinctive Doxa Sub300t divers watch is truly unique. With a number of pioneering safety features and an astonishing orange dial, this watch took the industry by storm when it was released in 1967. Each of its features were functional and its robust construction was dictated by the extreme environments it would primarily be used in, yet these along with its vibrant colour made the Sub300t into more than just a divers watch, it became a sporty style icon which launched the Doxa brand into a new niche.

Doxa didn't just create a new divers watch, they researched this new venture thoroughly. Through consults with the U.S. Diving Association, they found out what was required from a diving watch and perhaps more importantly, what was missing from available brands. The result was a watch which was quite literally an essential item for any serious diver's kit.

The Sub300t featured a unidirectional rotating bezel to be used as a no-decompression limit indicator for time elapsed while underwater - now a standard requirement in the modern divers watch. Another safety feature was the Helium Release Valve, a devise to protect the watch from the effects of deep sea dives. This was developed in co-operation with Rolex who used it on their Submariner Sea Dweller range. The steel clasp mechanism of the bracelet made the Sub user friendly in or out of the water as it would adjust from the bulk of the wet suit to the bare wrist with ease and it was ultra secure. The watch's orange dial was not originally meant to add style value, it simply gave the wearer high legibility at mid-diving range.

The Doxa brand now under the ownership of the Jenny family continue to produce high-specification watches at affordable prices in keeping with the proud tradition of the original founders. More recently, the brand released the Doxa Sub5000t. This re-issue of one of the original models has been updated and is now water-resistant to 5000 feet, and with a limited release of only 5000 pieces is not just functional but highly collectible.

Doxa watches may fulfill all the demands required for modern diving, but with their bold styling they have also become a powerful and enduring style statement.
